The coastal cycle path makes it easy to reach Sète (12 km), Marseillan (9 km) and Cap d'Agde (10 km). You can rent bicycles on site. The nearby Etang de Thau can be reached in about 60 km. This small inland sea of 7,500 hectares is the largest body of water in Occitania. Here, tasty oysters and mussels are matured, which can be tasted in small typical restaurants, accompanied by local wines.

 

Sète a few minutes away

Situated between sea, pond and canals, Sète is nicknamed the "singular island". Overlooking the town and the port, climb to the top of Mont Saint-Clair with its wooded slopes for a beautiful circular panorama. Sète also cultivates the memory of the singer Georges Brassens and the writer and poet Paul Valéry, to whom museums are dedicated.

 

To Agde

To the west of the Castellas campsite is the historic city of Agde, founded by the Phocaeans in the 6e century. The lava ramparts, the fortified basalt cathedral, the picturesque squares and the private mansions are all worth seeing. A visit extended by the famous festive and seaside resort, with 14 kilometres of beaches.

 

Excursion to Montpellier

Finally, just an hour away from Le Castellas, the city of Montpellier has many museums, squares and restaurants with a wide variety of architectural styles that are sure to catch the eye, with notable stops at the Jardin des Plantes, the Zoological Park, Planet Ocean World
