Discover the Region

Saint-Nazaire, the marine culture

In addition to the impressive cranes of the Atlantic shipyards where prestigious liners of over 300 metres in length are built, in the former naval base you can also visit the submarine Espadon and Escal'Atlantic which evokes the atmosphere of the cruises of yesteryear. It is also possible to witness the effervescence of the large seaport, the Airbus aircraft assembly workshop and EOL, the offshore wind farm. A city of art and history, Saint-Nazaire has many heritage sights, not forgetting the exotic plant garden created in 1884.

Beaches and marshes

Further north is the large bay of La Baule, with Pornichet and the salt marshes of the medieval walled city of Guérande, as well as the vast peat bogs and wetlands of the Brière regional park (over 50,000 hectares). You can also cycle along the Loire estuary, or go to Terre de Sel 24 km away, the Océarium in Le Croisic is 30 km away and Planète Sauvage 62 km away.
