Presentation

L'Hippocampe campsite is ideally situated on the banks of the Durance, close to the charming Provencal villages of Volonne and Château Arnoux. With its 5 stars and privileged location in the Alpes de Haute Provence, L'Hippocampe is one of the most beautiful campsites in the region.

The pleasures of camping in Haute Provence

Take advantage of the unique location of this campsite, spread over a 17-hectare estate in the two communes of Volonne and Château Arnoux, linked by a footbridge over the Durance. Choose from pitches or fully-equipped accommodation. Treat yourself to luxury in Provence with a latest-generation mobile home of sleek, contemporary design. You can also choose between a classic, comfortable cottage, a charming canvas bungalow or an unusual chalet for a top-of-the-range holiday at a dream campsite.

A unique atmosphere

The heated pools and waterslides welcome you for a stay with your feet in the water. The little ones can have fun in the heated paddling pool, while the grown-ups enjoy the sun loungers on the solarium. The water park has two heated pools, including a large whirlpool, waterslides and a paddling pool. New for summer 2024: the creation of a 3,400 m² lagoon. Turquoise water surrounded by white sand, a heavenly landscape that will be a highlight of your holiday. The lagoon will be located on the Château Arnoux estate.

This top-of-the-range campsite also has a wellness area, the Nature Spa, with panoramic views over the Durance. Here, you can recharge your batteries by contemplating the surrounding nature while enjoying the relaxing benefits of our facilities.
The little ones are safe in the children's mini-club, which also has a play area. Youngsters can meet up in the Club Ado. Activities for adults alternate between sports tournaments, fitness, aquagym and zumba and pounds classes. The whole family can get together for the evening under the big top, which some of them can extend in the soundproof disco.

In the heart of the great outdoors

Around the campsite, discover fishing, canoeing and rafting on the banks of the Durance. Between the mountains and the sea, enjoy horse riding, paragliding and gliding. If you like long walks accompanied by the sounds and smells of the Provençal countryside, there are numerous footpaths starting from Volonne that will satisfy you.

We appreciate

Discover the Region

Spending your holidays at the Hippocampe Campsite is a sure way to discover Haute Provence and the wonders that lie therein.

Fireworks in the Lubéron

It begins with the Lubéron where you’ll be constantly dazzled by the natural sites re-worked by man… or not! These are the quarries and ochre mines which have shaped the landscape over time. It’s also the ‘Colorado Provençal’ which gives you the impression that you’ve left the land of Giono and are in Buffalo Bill’s territory.

Bountiful and, at times, spectacular nature

A holiday at the Hippocampe also gives you the chance to come face-to-face with the spectacle of nature in all its majesty, like at the Mercantour National Park and the Verdon Gorge, without having to drive tens of kilometres on roads which make you feel queasy.

In the land of Giono, Mistral, Pagnol and all the rest

In Haute-Provence, there is… Provence. Adorable villages like Volonne or Sisteron remind you as such with the noises, colours and smells French authors loved to write about, Giono in particular. Lose yourself among the alleyways of the Provencal market of Forcalquier. It’s like the one the French singer Bécaud sang of: “Here, for a hundred francs, is some thyme from the garrigue, a little bit of saffron and a kilo of figs. You’d like a lovely tray of peaches, wouldn’t you, or apricots? (…)
And to top it all off, you’re given the bonus of the accent which goes on and on and never ends.”
